Midfielder returns to the field after four months playing in his home country

No Flamengo player is more excited to step into Santiago next Wednesday (March 17.03) than midfielder Maldonado. Returning to the field after a knee injury that kept him out of action for four months, the Chilean has yet another reason to celebrate: he'll be playing at home, with the support of his friends and family.
Between worrying about family news and returning to his country, Maldonado dedicated himself to training. He followed the medical department's schedule to the letter and is now available to coach Andrade for the match against Universidad de Chile.
"I'm more confident and feeling better every day. Today's training session (Monday) was much better than the last one. I'm improving, but I don't know if I'll start playing or if I'll come on in the second half. Regardless, I'm happy to be back in the group. Everything's been very good for me and now I just have to wait, keep working, until I'm 100% and ready to help Flamengo," he said.
The number 13 is hoping for plenty of support in Wednesday's game. After all, while Flamengo's match is away from home, Maldonado's will be more than at home.
"I think my family will go, and my friends too, because they support Colo-Colo, Universidad's rival. It's going to be really cool. I'm really happy, and it's definitely going to be special. It's my return after four months, and it's going to be in my country. I just have to wait to get in, do well, and do my best to get a good result," he added.
In Chile, Maldonado played exclusively for the club that revealed him and which he always said was his favorite team: Colo-Colo. After that, he found success in Brazil, playing for São Paulo, Santos, and Cruzeiro. Before signing with Flamengo, he also played for Fenerbahçe in Turkey.
