A not so distant dream
Rubro-Negros set a goal of going to the South American in 2011, but do not rule out a sprint in search of the G4

"Flamengo is in good form and we have to take advantage of this moment to climb even higher in the table." It is with this thought, expressed by midfielder Willians in a press conference after training on Tuesday, that Flamengo will take to the field in the next and final eight rounds of the 2010 Brazilian Championship.
The red-and-black team's first goal in the competition was to move further away from the relegation zone—a goal the team led by Vanderlei Luxemburgo has already achieved. The second goal was to enter the qualifying zone for the 2011 Copa Sudamericana—which has also already been achieved. Now, the goal is to maintain its position in this part of the table and, who knows, even dream of a spot in the top four.
"As I said last week, I don't think it's a distant dream to think about the Libertadores. We're going after as many points as possible, and now that another spot in the top four has opened up, we have to dream big," said the player, whose speech was endorsed by Willians, who dreams of 24 points in the next eight games.
"We still have a long way to go. We have 24 points at stake, and we hope to live up to expectations. We're optimistic, and although it's difficult, we have to think positively to win every match. It's tough, but it's possible. We managed to win six or seven games in a row last year. We can do that again," he said.
Deivid recalled, however, that despite the good form – the team has won seven of the last nine points played – there is no room for fuss at Fla.
"We have the experience to know that just because we win seven points out of nine doesn't mean there's going to be a fuss here. We're going in with our heads held high, but we're going to do it consciously. That's the only way we'll be able to win," he concluded.
