Some people believe in luck. Others, in destiny. Regardless of how he thinks, Guilherme Negueba seemed to simply be in the right place at the right time. A rapid rise, which in the same week included his first training session, his first trip, and shortly after, his first game as a starter for Flamengo's professional team. A promising start to a career that has everything to continue evolving in the coming years. That's how 2010 was for this young talent from Flamengo's youth academy.

And the hope of Guilherme and all Flamengo fans is that the next season will be one of growth and learning. With his whole life ahead of him, he knows he can still learn a lot, even more so in a year that begins under the command of Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who brought him to the professional level, has already given him some instructions, and has a whole plan to ensure Negueba's gradual development.

Happy, Negueba spoke with the team from Flamengo's official website and recalled his entire journey to reach the Rubro-negro's main team. Confident in proving himself next year, the young striker knows that the responsibility is great, but also believes that he can have a great reward if he works hard and dedicates himself.

Check out the conversation below:

Year-end - I'm ending the year happy because it was a very good personal achievement. Despite everything, I'm satisfied. It was very good. I love Flamengo, I've been here since I was little and I know what this club is all about. I recently renewed my contract and I hope to help a lot. Flamengo opened doors for me and I'm very happy.

Luxembourg - He's giving me a chance. I came from the youth team and I'm here to contribute to the squad. I wasn't expecting it because I'd only been in the youth team for a short time, playing in the OPG. I had a good training session against the professionals, and Luxembourg gave me the opportunity. It's very good for my career to know that he's following me closely, because it shows that he believes in my potential. Even more so because it's Professor Vanderlei, who is a great coach.

Early career - It all happened very quickly. I was playing around with a tin can when I was invited to play futsal at the Jacarepaguá Tennis Club. The guy came up to me and said that if I did with the ball what I did with the tin can, I would go very far. After Jacarepaguá, I went to Jequiá on Ilha do Governador. It was there that a friend of Marcio Braga (former Flamengo president) saw me playing and invited me for a trial at Flamengo.

Characteristics - My strong point is attacking with great speed, reaching the byline and crossing. He's giving me a lot of encouragement, telling me to take it easy, that my time will come. I'm still very young. My teammates help me a lot. It's a very good experience. Not long ago, I saw these players on television. Now I'm with them. It's a dream come true.

Renato Abreu - Renato helps me a lot. We talk in the room, he gives me tips, he's a very experienced guy. He tells me about my attitude, that it has to be different among professionals, he helps me on the field... Everyone is helping me, joking with me. The group is great to be around, everyone is cheerful and giving me a lot of support.

Pressure - The responsibility is well understood, I'm experiencing this pressure along with them. Playing here comes with pressure from the moment you join the club. I'm with them and, if I get to play, I'll always give my best to help.

Idols - I always admire a fast player who strikes the ball well. I don't have a specific player I look up to. I enjoy watching football, I watch the championships, and I like the skillful players.
