Every true Flamengo fan knows that December 13th is a special day. It was on this day, 29 years ago, that the world turned red and black, starting in Japan and culminating in a celebration that brought Brazil to a standstill. With a true spectacle from the team of Zico, Junior, Adílio, Nunes, and company, Flamengo defeated Liverpool 3-0 and became the club world champion.

But it's not "just" the biggest title in the club's history that celebrates its anniversary on this date. Another important achievement for the red-and-black team also took place on December 13th: the fourth Brazilian championship, in 1987. In a Maracanã stadium with over 90 fans, Zé Carlos, Jorginho, Leandro, Edinho, and Leonardo; Andrade, Aílton, and Zico (Flávio); Renato Gaúcho, Bebeto, and Zinho made history.

Led by Carlinhos, one of the greatest coaches in the 115 years of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, the red-and-blacks struggled, but defeated Internacional 1-0, with a goal by Bebeto, and won the fourth Brazilian Championship for the Gávea club. And some of the players in this group were holdovers from the team that conquered the world six years earlier.

On December 13, 1981, Leandro, Andrade, and Zico were younger and tasked with stopping the then-sensation of European football, Liverpool of England. In Tokyo, Japan, the British team was considered the favorite, but saw its pre-match dominance crumble in the first half. With two goals from Nunes and one from Adílio, the red-and-black team won 3-0.
