Ramón started his Flamengo career on the right foot. Shortly after being left off the roster for the Copa Santander Libertadores, the midfielder had his first chance to demonstrate his skills to coach Andrade in an official match. And he did very well. With his first touch, he initiated the play for Flamengo's third goal of the match, against Macaé.
On Monday (01.03), after training at Gávea, Ramón spoke with the team from Flamengo's official website and celebrated his good performance. The player's goal now is to have a good second half of the Campeonato Carioca and then dream of greater heights.
"I'm happy to be back playing. I think I debuted well and was able to help Flamengo win. My goal is to do well in the Rio Cup, get back into the swing of things, get more in tune with the squad, and show my work to Andrade," he explained.
One of these goals is to be registered for the second phase of the Santander Libertadores Cup. The player has a contract until the end of 2010 and hopes to make the most of every minute of his time with Flamengo.
"Unfortunately, I couldn't be registered for the first phase of the Libertadores, but I'll continue doing my job to the best of my ability. I have a contract until the end of the year. So, I can be registered for the second phase of the competition," he said.
Ramón has already taken a big step toward success. At least in appearance. His braids are reminiscent of the team's big signing for the season, Vagner Love, with whom he even played in Russia. Jokes aside, the midfielder praised his teammate and highlighted their chemistry.
"We have that similarity in our hair, and it was great to play alongside him again. We played together for three years at CSKA, and I have a good rapport with Love. He's a great player, fast and intelligent. I'm sure he'll bring Flamengo a lot of joy," he concluded.
