The year 2007 was unforgettable for Flamengo's youth academy. In both the youth and junior divisions, Flamengo defeated Vasco in the finals of the Campeonato Carioca and became champions. Today, many members of both teams are in the professional squad under the leadership of Rogério Lourenço, who was the coach of the under-17 team that season.

A frequent fixture on the senior team in 2010, Camacho was one of the youth players who lifted the championship trophy that year, alongside goalkeeper Diego Lima, full-backs Galhardo and Jorbison, defenders Welinton and Fabrício, defensive midfielder Lenon, and forward Diego Maurício. And the result is still on the mind of the young Flamengo midfielder, just as it likely won't leave the minds of Marcelo Lomba, Antônio, and Rômulo, who won the same title with the youth team that same year.

"There were two games in which our team played amazingly. In the first game, we won 4-1, and in the second, we won 2-0 in the first half, killing the game. It ended 2-2, but it was already decided. It was amazing. I've always played against Vasco since I was a kid, and there's always been that rivalry," Camacho recalled.

Diego Maurício, that team's top-scoring striker and currently a starter for Flamengo's first team, fondly remembers his youth team clashes with Vasco and is pleased that both teams are renewing their roster with players who were brought up at the clubs.

"I played against these players who have just come up at Vasco, but only briefly. They recently arrived at Vasco, and we played them earlier this year in the State Junior Championship. We won 2-1, coming from behind, and I even scored a goal. It was the only time we faced each other. I'm happy because there's a good crop of new players emerging from Rio clubs. This is important for the development of the youth teams," he added.
