Gil's experience is one of coach Andrade's weapons to secure three more points in Sunday's match (04.04) against Friburguense, at 16 pm, in Moça Bonita. The match is valid for the last round of the Taça Rio and could confirm Flamengo as the first placed team in its group in the competition.

Gil arrived at Flamengo in mid-2009 and has only played three matches for Flamengo so far. He started only once, in the friendly against Brasília FC last week. Therefore, he expects to perform well on Sunday, despite his lack of match fitness.

"It's an opportunity to showcase my work. I'm aware of the quality of this group and I know that if I'm not playing well, it's not because of my shortcomings, but because of the strength of the squad. I also know that I need to be ready to perform when needed. That's what I hope will happen on Sunday," he stated.

The team that will take the field against Friburguense will be without any starting players. Even so, Gil believes in the strength of the red-and-black team.

"Whoever's here has earned it and has to prove it at every opportunity. I'll be demanding a lot from myself on Sunday and hope to show my worth. We'll honor the Flamengo jersey and our names. Regardless of who plays, there will be no shortage of grit. We'll do our best to get the win," he explained.

The player knows that Flamengo will not have an easy mission, but guarantees that the team is motivated and will try to overcome obstacles based on determination.

"We know the potential difficulties. We know the pitch there isn't very good and that our team doesn't have much chemistry. Even so, we'll overcome this with determination," he added.
