Helio Ferraz takes on the role of vice president with the aim of transforming the department into a company

The world of football moves a lot of money around the world, and Brazil's most beloved club is no exception. Aware of this, Flamengo aims to professionalize its football department soon. And the club's vice president, Helio Ferraz, will be tasked with initiating this restructuring. This Thursday (May 27.05), in a press conference, he publicly assumed the role of vice president of football and spoke about his plans for the future.
"My presence in this role represents the idea that we believe our football department is a company, with a turnover of $100 million per year. We believe that the person who should lead this business community is someone with corporate knowledge. We want to establish a structure that reflects this idea, with a board of directors and a board of directors to discuss strategic issues. All activities would be defined by this football executive board. My commitment is to get this work off the ground and begin building this structure," he revealed.
Still having his first contacts with the department, Hélio explained that he still has no news about renewals and hiring, but assured that next week he should have a better overview to share.
"I'm here mainly to introduce myself. Unfortunately, I don't have any news yet, but I wanted, more than just to do an interview, to say what a pleasure it is to work here. And I'm available to clarify anything. We had an initial meeting, where I tried to get to know the steps that are underway. We discussed the expiring contracts, other expectations, and needs. But saying anything at this time wouldn't be prudent. As the next week progresses, we'll have something more concrete, and when the time is right, the president will come here to share the information," said the director, who also promises to speak with coach Rogério Lourenço before making any decisions.
"I spoke with Isaias, who gave me the full picture, and I hope to have an even better conversation with Rogério Lourenço. But I'm not thinking about making changes. I'm happy with Rogério; he's capable and has been doing a good job. Michel Assef Filho will also be a great help to me as football director. The important thing is to act calmly. Football is about continuity of work, and with the work done well, the results will come naturally," he added.
