Coach Paulo César Carpegiani gave a quick analysis after the match at Arena Pantanal, which ended in a 4-0 defeat to Fluminense. The coach made changes to the team, resting players for the Libertadores debut next Wednesday. The team that took the field conceded an early goal and was unable to recover. The coach made a point of absolving the players of responsibility for the result. 

"Flamengo is one team; it's not these players who play or the ones who have been playing. Unfortunately, we started the game losing, we were mentally unstable and it was very damaging. It was an afternoon to forget," said the coach, who pointed to the early goal as being crucial to the result."They scored a goal very early, and that upset the kids. The consequence was natural; we ended up very afraid to play, without taking any risks. Fluminense was very fortunate." 

It was Flamengo's first loss of the year and ended their unbeaten streak since winning the 2017 State Championship. But that hasn't shaken their work or planning. Carpegiani is already thinking about Wednesday's match. 

"I can't write these boys off as losers. Fluminense deserved to win. The next game will be a different story, but that doesn't mean I'm not confident. Under any circumstances, a goal too early is very damaging," concluded the team manager.
