The Love Gunner had a curious night this Wednesday (03.03) at Maracanã. The number 9 had been missing some scoring chances against Madureira, until, at the end of the match, he managed to make his mark. And it was a great goal. He hit a beautiful shot from outside the box, into the top corner, and reached nine goals for the Rubro-Negro. The feat made the striker the top scorer in the Campeonato Carioca, surpassing Vasco's Dodô, who has eight.

The goalscorer celebrated the beautiful finish and credited his success to the training he does at Gávea. Love also expressed his satisfaction with the competition's top scorer tally, which he has already stated he wants to share with Adriano.

"I was happy to score the goal. I was fortunate to score another and increase my tally in the championship. Plus, I'm back in the top scorer's chair. The goal was really beautiful, but I've been practicing shots like that. Today I managed to score," he said.

Love, however, acknowledged that the team's performance was a little below expectations.

"The fans want to see a spectacle, but they won't always see it. We'll always play for the three points. We know we're behind, but we leave with a sense of duty fulfilled," he concluded.

In eight games since arriving at Gàvea, Vagner has nine goals and one assist. He's confirmed for Saturday's match against Resende, at 19:30 pm, in Volta Redonda.
