The game seemed to be heading toward what the football world calls an upset. After all, Olaria was beating the reigning Brazilian champions. But the joy was fleeting. In the 38th minute of the second half, Vagner Love used his head to equalize the score. With the equalizer, the striker helped preserve a long-standing unbeaten streak.

Flamengo's last defeat in Rio de Janeiro state was on August 20th, against Cruzeiro. Since then, Andrade's team has played 16 times in Rio de Janeiro, accumulating 13 wins and three draws. Nine matches were played in the Brazilian Championship, six in the State Championship, and one in the Copa Sudamericana.

Of the 16 matches, two were at Engenhão, one in Volta Redonda, and the remaining 13 at Maracanã Stadium. The team scored 37 goals and conceded 15. Flamengo's only loss during this period was away from home, in October, to Barueri (SP).
