Val admits that the attack's performance was below average.

The striker acknowledges that he, Deivid, and Diogo could have done more, but is confident of success in 2011.

The 2010 season wasn't very good for Flamengo's attack. The three players signed to score goals in the second half of the season didn't perform as well as expected. Val Baiano, Deivid, and Diogo, together, scored eight goals. Val acknowledges that the numbers aren't as good as hoped, but believes that this can improve in 2011.

According to Val, the short training period, without a pre-season, and Flamengo's need for victories in the Brazilian Championship, ended up being a decisive factor in this. Therefore, he is confident of greater success next year, with the team better prepared.

"It's clear that Deivid, Diogo, and I didn't have a good season, but the lack of a longer training period also contributed to that. Having more time, starting the year with a pre-season, I believe things could be better," he said.

Despite being questioned for much of the season, Val doesn't believe his first few months at Flamengo have been disappointing.

"It wasn't a disappointment for me, but rather a difficult year for Flamengo. Everyone knows what happened and it was, indeed, quite complicated," he concluded.

Val played 17 games for Flamengo, scoring three goals. His debut was in the second half of the 1-0 defeat to Internacional in Porto Alegre, back in July.
