Val Baiano accepts constructive criticism and hopes to break his fast
The striker is one of those competing for a place in the starting lineup and hopes to say goodbye to his bad form.

With the suspension of striker Diogo, who ended up being sent off in Flamengo's last match in the Brazilian Championship, a spot in the red-black attack was left open for the game against Vitória, this Saturday (11.09), at 18:30 pm, at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium, in Volta Redonda. Still without confirming the team's lineup, coach Silas can count on Val Baiano's willingness.
The striker, signed mid-year, hasn't yet scored for Flamengo, but it's not for lack of desire or training. Upset by some criticism, he promises to work harder to get back on track with the net, his old friends.
"I'm worried about this situation. As 'professor' Isaías Tinoco says: 'We have to respect the current situation.' It's up to us to work. The team is doing that and is taking training very seriously. This bad phase will pass, and I hope it starts this Saturday," said Val Baiano, explaining that the pressure is already coming from within.
"I've never hidden myself. I have to accept criticism when it's constructive. I think it's unfair to just judge Val Baiano based on the team's current form. I've been talking a lot with my wife and I consider that I'm going through the most difficult time of my career. The pressure comes from home, because, like me, many family members are Flamengo fans."
Regarding the proximity of the relegation zone of the 2010 Brasileirão, Val Baiano does not show concern, but confidence.
"Regardless of who's playing, we have to support them. Given the group we have, I don't think we deserve to be in this position. We always need to be vigilant, as this championship is one of the most difficult in the world," concluded the striker.
