Val Baiano thanks the Flamengo fans for their support.
The striker says that the motivation from the fans and his teammates was fundamental in Volta Redonda.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inVolta Redonda (RJ) - You don't have to look far to remember a striker from Bahia who was criticized when he arrived at Flamengo, but who, after breaking through, found his form and even scored several decisive goals in the red and black jersey. Obina made his mark at Gávea. Now, it's Val Baiano's chance to try and do the same.
Acclaimed by fans who had previously doubted his goal-scoring ability, the number 9 player thanked the crowd for their support in Volta Redonda after scoring against Atlético-GO.
"The fans helped a lot. Since Wednesday's training session, they were here, cheering with every play, chanting my name, asking for autographs... That's really cool. Of course, the fans are a bit demanding, and it doesn't matter if you've been out of action for a long time, none of that matters. But I stayed calm throughout this time, listened to the constructive criticism, and now I hope to continue the work," said the striker, who revealed that he felt hopeful when coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo called him to enter the field.
"When coach Vanderlei called me, I imagined I could score a goal, especially in his debut. When the goal came, I just thanked God for it. I always felt more relaxed because I had the confidence of all of them, who saw me hug them. Kleberson, Deivid, Jean, everyone. Juan said he would give me the ball so I could score. They see how hard I work, how dedicated I am, and that gave me even more strength because I have friends here at the club," he explained.
Val further explained his role on the field and said he was confident in taking advantage of any new chances he had to score.
"Like I said, I'm a pivot, I play one-twos, I don't dribble, I'm there to finish, to be in the right place at the right time. The chances weren't coming, but now they are, and the trend is only to improve," he concluded.
