Val Baiano is not ready to play yet
The red-and-black striker will benefit from the early transfer window
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inThe Brazilian Football Confederation's announcement of the international transfer window on Monday (July 19.07) would benefit striker Val Baiano, signed from Monterrey, Mexico, who could only play for Flamengo in August. However, as he hasn't played for some time and is still undergoing physical training, the center forward, who was scheduled to make his debut in the match against Corinthians on August 8, is unlikely to have his first game brought forward for many days.
\In an exclusive interview with Flamengo's Official Website, Val Baiano revealed that he may be able to play in the classic against Vasco, which takes place a week before the match against the São Paulo team, on August 1st, but he does not believe he will be fit to play before then.
\"Professor Rogério spoke to me and I just found out about it during training. But I don't think it will change my schedule much. The coaching staff planned for me to debut against Corinthians. I think the most I can do is bring it forward to the game against Vasco," he explained.
\Val, however, assures that the reasons for this aren't physical. Quite the opposite. According to the striker, the issue is more technical than physical. Having not played in official matches since the beginning of the year, the player only wants to return to the field when he's sure of his condition.
\"Physically, I'm fine, but I haven't played in a long time and I prefer not to go on the field just like that. I could end up burning myself unnecessarily. I'll work hard, as I've been doing, to debut as soon as possible, but only when I'm sure I can show my football skills," he added.
\With 18 goals, Val Baiano was the second-highest scorer in the last Brazilian Championship and joined Flamengo's squad during the pre-season, which the squad spent in Itu.
