Coach shows his star quality, striker scores, and Flamengo beats Atlético-GO 2-0.

It was also clear that the coach has a knack for it. After all, the three players he put on the field during the game participated in the goals for Flamengo in the 2-0 victory over Atlético-GO, this Thursday (October 07.10th), in Volta Redonda.
But the real star of the night this Thursday was striker Val Baiano. In the 33rd minute, he received a perfect cross from Marquinhos and headed in his first goal for Flamengo. Diego Maurício then scored a second goal in the 41st minute, securing Flamengo's 33 points and 14th place. This result further increased the gap between the teams behind them, such as Avaí, their opponent next Saturday (October 09.10th) in Santa Catarina, and Atlético itself.
First half ends goalless.
The first 45 minutes of Flamengo's game under Vanderlei Luxemburgo weren't very positive for the Rubro-Negro. The team from Gávea had more possession and managed to dominate Atlético-GO, but couldn't convert this superiority into goals. This was largely due to the strong defensive system set up by the Goiás team.
