Val Baiano: "God is a Flamengo supporter and helps us"
The striker says Flamengo will never be relegated and expresses confidence in a victory against Santos.
By From the official website team - inOne of the possible new additions to Flamengo's lineup for Sunday's (December 05.12th) match against Santos at Vila Belmiro, striker Val Baiano is confident of a good performance. Under coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, he has found his scoring touch with the red-and-black jersey and hopes to repeat that success in this weekend's game.
In a good mood, he took the opportunity to give his opinion on Flamengo's fight against relegation, even though they never entered the relegation zone. The team no longer has any risk of being relegated to the second division and, according to Val Baiano, never will be.
"Flamengo will not be relegated. God is a Flamengo supporter and will help us," he stated.
The center forward believes he will indeed be a starter against Santos, after training this Thursday (December 02.12nd), and hopes to help the team achieve victory and a place in the 2011 Copa Sudamericana.
"I believe I'll play, because whenever Vanderlei trains with a team, he ends up confirming it. We know that this game can minimize a bit of what happened during the year and we still have a chance to fight for a spot in a competition that could take us to the Copa Libertadores," said the number 9, making good predictions for next year.
"It was a difficult year, which started turbulently. Many things happened and we only hope that 2011 will be different; that it will be Flamengo's year. We have the conditions for that and that's what we're going to strive for," he concluded.
