Under the watchful eyes of Flamengo fans, Leandro Amaral will make his debut in the red-and-black jersey on Saturday (August 14.08th), against Ceará, at the Maracanã. Alongside him will be Val Baiano, in his fourth game for the Gávea team and eager to score his first goal. The mission will not be easy, after all, the opponent has the best defense in the Brazilian Championship, having conceded only six goals, but the Flamengo striker assures he is prepared.
"It's a challenge, but I have high confidence. We know about the fans' distrust; after all, it's not common for a team like Flamengo to go three games without scoring. Unfortunately, I haven't had many clear chances to score yet, but I hope to finish well the first time I get one, and I'm sure that when the first goal comes, the others will follow naturally," he said.
The striker, who was the second-highest scorer in the last Brazilian Championship, believes he can help Flamengo as he gains rhythm and a run of games.
"I scored 18 goals last year in this same competition, and I haven't forgotten how to play. I'm still evolving, getting back to my ideal rhythm, and I believe I can help Flamengo. I believe that with Renato Abreu's arrival, we'll have more creativity, and on Saturday, with the fans as our 12th player, we'll go for the win," he stated.
This weekend, Val will have a new teammate by his side, Leandro Amaral, with whom he believes he will form a successful partnership at Flamengo.
"I think this partnership will work well. I'm still improving, and Leandro can't be pressured right now either, but with time we'll get it right," he added.
