On the eve of another classic between Flamengo and São Paulo in the Brazilian Championship, it's worth going back in time and remembering a historic victory for the red-and-black team at Morumbi Stadium. On February 16, 1982, Flamengo (who would go on to lift the national championship trophy for the second time at the end of the championship) defeated the São Paulo club 4-3 away in front of a crowd of 70. Flamengo trailed in the first half, with a goal from São Paulo's Renato.
But, led on the field by Galinho Zico, the team fought back and turned the score around in the first half, with goals from Nunes and Lico. Mengão continued to dominate the second half and extended their lead with goals from Tita and Zico. Despite their dominance on the field, Éverton and Dario Pereyra scored for São Paulo. But it was too late.
