Flamengo already has a plan in place to make 2011 much better than 2010. President Patricia Amorim is the one who guarantees it. The Flamengo leader went to Footecon, on Tuesday afternoon (07.12), for the inauguration ceremony of the new board of directors of Clube dos Treze, which also took place at Copacabana Palace, and revealed part of Fla's plans for the next season. Among the priorities are the contract renewals with the promising youth teams and the investment in reinforcements to reformulate and rejuvenate the squad.

The first steps are already being taken. Diego Maurício, Negueba, and Fernando, for example, have already extended their contracts with the club at the end of this year. Patricia emphasized that the coaching staff and board are already committed to finding new talent to join the squad that will compete next season. According to her, valuing the youth academy is crucial.

"We're talking about reinforcements, the work is underway, but I can't say anything yet. The priority, initially, is to renew contracts with the younger players. They are the club's asset. We need to think about the future and our players, like Negueba, Diego Maurício, these athletes who have already renewed their contracts, as well as the other promising young players from the youth academy. Flamengo has always invested in its youth academy and must continue to do so," commented the president, who emphasized that she intends to rely on the players currently under contract with Flamengo.

"Whoever has a contract with Flamengo, has a contract. Léo has another year with us, and Willians also has a contract with the club, until 2013. Other clubs may even want them, especially because they are top-level players, but I only believe they will leave in an extraordinary situation. Honestly, I can't see them leaving Flamengo," he assured.

Patricia also took the opportunity to review the year that is drawing to a close. Despite the negative results in football and some off-field issues, the president believes Flamengo has made a qualitative leap in terms of structure and membership.

"It was an unusual year for Flamengo. Football didn't happen, we lost the Maracanã stadium, and we had to play in a stadium our fans aren't used to. Some signings also didn't work out as we'd hoped, but we ended up overcoming the difficulties. I believe the year was far from being very good, but it wasn't too bad either. We paid salaries on time, paid taxes, renovated the clubhouse, and also for the achievements we had at the youth level and for the way we understand the club for 2011, a year that I'm sure won't be like the one that's leaving," he concluded.
