Once again, the classic between Flamengo and Vasco da Gama had to be postponed due to vandals who claim to be fans.
In a game valid for the fourth round of the 2008 State Futsal Championship, this Thursday, in São Januário, Vasco “fans” invaded the court and attacked the Flamengo team, before the match even started.
The vice-president of the Rio de Janeiro Futsal Federation, Francisco Vaz Leme, declared that the responsibility for the security of the match lay with the Cruzmaltino club.
"According to the rules, policing is requested by the home club. When matches are played on neutral courts, the request for policing is made by the Federation, the club hosting the court, and those participating in the game. In this case, Vasco is solely responsible," Francisco said in an interview with Sportv.
While warming up, the red-black goalkeeper Rafael was hit by a goal thrown by Vasco fans, who soon after invaded the court, ending any possibility of continuing the game, which still does not have a new date to take place.
