Flamengo unveiled striker Vandinho and left-back Eltinho this Friday morning as the club's newest signings for the Brazilian Championship. Both players have signed contracts until December 2009.

With 27 goals in the first seven months of the year, striker Vandinho arrives at Gávea as one of the goalscoring hopes for the 2008 Brasileirão. The player was warmly welcomed by the fans who attended his morning training session. Vandinho promised to be eager to win the fans' trust.

"It was great to receive such affection from the fans; it motivates me even more. I'm here to help Flamengo win the Brazilian Championship. I'm confident I'll do well here at Gávea. I'll work hard to repay that affection."

The striker spoke a little about his characteristics to the red-black nation.

"I'm a striker who doesn't stay still in the box. I like to move around a lot. I'm a fast and opportunistic striker who also likes to move down the wings. Strikers thrive on goals, especially playing for Flamengo. I hope to maintain this good average this season here at Flamengo."

Left-back Eltinho, who worked with Caio Júnior at Paraná in 2006, said that wearing the Flamengo shirt is a dream for any player.

"Every player dreams of wearing this jersey. I'm looking forward to playing at the Maracanã in a Flamengo jersey. I'll work hard to earn my place here at the club."

For Eltinho, the opportunity to work with Caio Júnior again weighed heavily on his decision to sign with Clube da Gávea.

At the presentation, Eltinho was full of praise for Juan, the starting left-back.

"Juan is a great player. I have a very similar style to him. I'm very attacking, I like to attack opponents, and I have a good crossing ability. I'll work to earn my space, always respecting my teammates."
