Having put in a strong performance alongside Réver in the center of the red-and-black defense against Chapecoense, Rafael Vaz gave a press conference in the Victorino Chermont Press Room at Ninho do Urubu. In the match at Arena Condá, the defender lived up to his opportunity with strong performances in training led by Reinaldo Rueda. 

"It was very important. I hadn't played in a month and I think I performed very well. I'm happy to have helped my teammates and for Flamengo to win again. The most important thing was not only that I played, but that Flamengo won, especially away from home," commented Vaz.

The match marked the Mais Querido's return to winning ways away from home in the Brazilian Championship. The next match, however, will be played with the support of the Nation on Ilha do Urubu. In the quest to return to the top four, the three points are crucial to getting back into the direct qualification zone for the next CONMEBOL Libertadores.

"We know how important it is. Our group is taking it game by game. It will be very difficult. Bahia is having a very good time in the championship, but Flamengo won again. We will respect Bahia, but they know the responsibility of playing against Flamengo. It will be a great match," he analyzed.

After another chance in the starting eleven, the feeling is one of duty accomplished. Coach Reinaldo Rueda's work philosophy is to make the most of his squad's talent, a trait praised by Rafael Vaz.

"It's great to know that the coach trusts everyone. He's using the entire squad he has. He gives everyone plenty of opportunities to work. He says the group isn't just made up of 11 players, and it's great that everyone is performing. The important thing is that the defense is very good, regardless of who plays. The most important thing is to help Flamengo," said the defender.
