The new red-black reinforcement was presented this Wednesday at CT George Helal

After training on Wednesday (08), Rafael Vaz, the club's newest signing for the defensive sector, gave a press conference in the press room at the George Helal Training Center. The defender spoke about the pleasure of wearing the Mais Querido shirt, as well as his reputation as a defender who scores many goals and his prospects of becoming a starter in the team.
The 27-year-old left-footed defender, originally from São Paulo and a Palmeiras alumnus, rose to prominence in Ceará thanks to his refined technique. He once again demonstrated his attacking prowess at Vasco, his last club. Vaz signed a contract with the club until the end of 2018.

Why did you choose Flamengo?
Wearing the Flamengo jersey is an honor. It's a great pleasure. Every player dreams of playing for a great club like this. I'm happy to know the fans are welcoming me. I'll do my best to bring them much joy. Besides, I'm well settled in Rio and have a young daughter.
Goal-scoring defender
I'm coming here to help out defensively, and that's what I'll try to do. If I get scoring opportunities, that's important, too, but my main role is to prevent the team from conceding goals.
Ownership in the team
I have to work. Words alone aren't enough. I need to show on the field why I deserve to be among the starters. Wearing the Flamengo jersey isn't for everyone, but I'm arriving here at a point in my career where I'm more mature and have my head on straight. When I get my chance, I'll be ready.
Debut
I need to regain my match fitness, especially since I haven't been playing in official matches, but I'll keep working. I may not be 100% physically yet, but I'll get there soon. Whether I'm in the starting lineup or the reserves, I have to work to be ready at all times. If the coach thinks I should play on Sunday, I'll be mentally ready.
