A night to remember forever. In the stands, an unparalleled performance by the Flamengo Nation, who turned out in almost 56 people to support Flamengo. On the field, Everton Ribeiro scored early in the first half, giving the final score to the duel against Grêmio: 1-0. Thus, the Most Beloved advanced to the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil for the second consecutive year.
The Copa do Brasil semifinals are a familiar sight for Flamengo. In 22 editions played to date, Mengão has reached this stage an incredible thirteen times. Champion in 1990, 2006, and 2013, the team from Gávea also reached the final in 1997, 2003, 2004 and 2017. There were 175 games, 102 wins, 45 draws, 28 losses, 316 goals scored and 164 conceded. Flamengo is the team that has won the most and scored the most goals in the history of the competition.
Furthermore, the red-and-black team's home record is very positive: 79 home matches, 55 wins, 19 draws, and only five losses, with 162 goals scored and 53 conceded. This also includes the 2006 finals and the 2015 round of 16 against Vasco, as well as the 2013 quarterfinals against Botafogo, as there was no home advantage.
Now the challenge is different. With another semifinal in mind, the Mais Querido's mind is already focused on Corinthians, their next opponent in the Copa do Brasil. It will be their chance to reach the tournament's final for the second year in a row.
