“It’s the happiest day of my life, at 17 years old having my name chanted by the fans for me to stay here at Flamengo. I’ve never hidden from anyone that I’ve been a Flamengo fan since I was little, and today I felt a mix of joy and sadness, because this could be my last game here at the Maracanã wearing the Flamengo shirt,” declared Vinicius Jr.

“Vinicius and I are Flamengo products, we’ve been here in this wonderful club since we were little. I’m very happy for him, for having the privilege of leaving with the doors open, just like I am. It’s our home. I’m sure it will be a ‘see you soon’ for both of us,” Vizeu added.

After all the players had gone to the locker room, Vinicius Jr. made a point of saying goodbye to the fans, who once again filled the stadium. Vini threw his jersey to the crowd, took selfies with fans, and cried. 

“It was a very memorable moment. The fans have always welcomed me since my youth academy days and since my first game here at the Maracanã. They have always helped me, and I am a part of that support too. I leave here very happy, but I will be back soon. I owe a lot to Flamengo,” the young striker said.

The Flamengo youth team players will be missed. What can be said about Vizeu's form? In the last two games, he came off the bench to seal the victory. Today was no different; in the 21st minute of the second half, he scored the winning goal, making it 2-0.

“Without a doubt, my dream was to come on, score a goal, and help Flamengo get the three points. I was happy once again to score, and I don't even know what to say; it's a moment of great happiness. My family has been supporting me; the injuries bothered me a bit, but it never crossed my mind that I couldn't go back to scoring goals like I always did,” said the number 47, who is leaving for Italian football.

Mengão's next match will be against Palmeiras at Arena Palmeiras, Wednesday (13), at 21 pm. This is the last match for Mais Querido before the break for the World Cup in Russia.
