Vinícius Pacheco's career trajectory is very similar to Flamengo's this year. He started with high expectations, but didn't quite make it at first, but after a period of hard work, he turned things around. Now a starter for coach Rogério Lourenço's team, the club's top assist maker this year and a key player in the team's tactical scheme, Pacheco can't hide his joy at the team's strong performance, both individually and as a whole.
"We knew, during these 37 days that we were out of action, that it would be important to return to the Brazilian Championship in good shape and, thanks to God and the work we all did, we managed to win two of these first matches. It was good to motivate us even more and prove our progress. But we know that nothing is won yet and that we need to keep working to go further in the competition," he said, in an exclusive interview with Flamengo's official website.
The number 22 believes that each match in the Brazilian Championship should be treated as a final so that, little by little, Flamengo can accumulate points and compete for the title in the final rounds.
"The group is supportive of each other, helping each other, marking each other, and we have to maintain this spirit. Each game is a decision in the Brazilian Championship and that's why we always have to be alert," said the player, who asked for the fans' support in the game against Avaí, this Wednesday (21.07).
"The fans know what we've been through and are a fundamental component of all of this. In Goiânia, there were many Flamengo fans, and that certainly inspires us even more. I hope the fans go to Maracanã for the game against Avaí and help us in this difficult match we have ahead of us," he added.
