Victory gives Fla peace of mind to think about the Libertadores
The team played so well that Andrade even tested formations with Caracas in mind.

Flamengo achieved its goal of not dropping points to teams considered smaller in the Rio Cup. And nothing better than a rout to give the coaching staff and players peace of mind for next week's work. Flamengo will change its focus, as it faces Caracas on Wednesday (March 10.03) in the Copa Santander Libertadores, but will take away some valuable lessons from the match against Resende.
Coach Andrade, who was reticent in praising the team's attitude in the first two rounds of the second round of the State Championship, did not spare praise for his players after last Saturday's triumph (06.03).
"We had a convincing victory. Our team was focused and played well for the entire 90 minutes. It seems our team was more committed. That's what I've been asking for," said the coach.
And Andrade liked what he saw on the field so much that he even started training another formation, with just one defensive midfielder.
"In some games, like this one, it's possible to play this way. I needed to test a player to replace Willians, who won't play this Wednesday, and I took advantage of that. After the second goal, it was possible to do tests. The score was decided, and I wanted to rest Toró as well," he explained.
Another person who was thrilled with the victory was the "Artilheiro do Amor" (Love's Gunner). Vagner Love once again performed well with and without the ball. With his goal this Saturday, he remains the competition's top scorer with 10 goals, and is increasingly committed to helping Flamengo.
"I dream of being a top scorer, yes. I get closer to that with every goal I score. A striker's goal is to score, and I'm happy with this current form. However, the most important thing, always, is for Flamengo to win," said Love, who also hit the crossbar against Resende. "I did everything right. I had planned to hit the ball under the surface, but it ended up going a bit higher. Patience," he concluded.
