Victory in the classic is already in the past for Flamengo

Rubro-Negros forget the triumph against Botafogo and already think about the duel against Atlético-GO

A 1-0 victory over Botafogo, last Wednesday (July 14.07), was much celebrated by the red-and-blacks. The team maintained its ten-year unbeaten streak against its rival in the competition, beat its opponent for the first time this year and got the three points in its first game in the Brasileirão, after the break for the World Cup. But it's time to leave all that behind.

After all, next Sunday (18.07), Flamengo has another important challenge in the Brazilian Championship: they will face Atlético-GO, who are fighting to leave the last positions in the table, away from home.

"We won an important game against Botafogo, but that's in the past. We have another game on Sunday and we have to show our football once again," said striker Diego Maurício, who made his first start for the professional team against Botafogo.

Midfielder Willians agrees, but highlights another positive point of the victory in the classic: the tranquility the team gained to work until the game against the team from Goiânia.

"It was a great victory, which gives us a lot of confidence. It gives us peace of mind to train during the week and look for a victory on Sunday," he added.

This Friday (16.07), the red-black squad will do its last training session in Rio de Janeiro, at 15 pm, before heading to Goiás. The team will travel in the early evening and should train in Goiânia on Saturday (17.07).
