Flamengo is starting to get going in the Brazilian Championship. After drawing against Grêmio at Maracanã last weekend, the team from Gávea beat Palmeiras 1-0 away from home, reaching nine points and already in the top four of the competition. In six games, the team has only lost one, and the mood is one of calm and happiness among the red-and-black fans.
Coach Rogério Lourenço believes the victory over Palmeiras was crucial in improving the team's spirits. The Flamengo manager believes they're on a run in the Brazilian Championship.
"The mood is great. Winning a match like this makes everyone happy, for sure. We know how important it is to go into this World Cup break with a good score in the standings, and we're going to look for another win on Saturday," he said.
Although pleased with the result, Rogério believes the team still needs to strengthen for the rest of the Brasileirão. The current Brazilian champion, Flamengo, is fighting for its second consecutive title and its seventh title in its history.
"A team that aims to be at the top of the table has to be strong in all areas. With the changes that have taken place, we need reinforcements, and I know the board is working to bring only the best to Flamengo," he added.
