The bad luck in the goal conceded against Vasco didn't discourage young Welinton. The defender, who established himself with Vanderlei Luxemburgo's arrival at Flamengo, has already put that incident behind him and is confident of delivering another great performance on Wednesday (October 27th) at 10 PM against Corinthians at the Engenhão stadium. The defender knows he will have a difficult task marking Ronaldo, the São Paulo team's striker, and therefore sees the match as a great test.

Despite Ronaldo being considered one of the main stars on the field in the match, Welinton warns that he is not the only threat from Corinthians. According to him, the defense needs to be attentive to the entire Corinthians offensive system.

"It's a great dream to mark Ronaldo. If he plays, I hope to come out with the advantage. His nickname is 'phenomenon' for nothing. We have to be always alert, because it's always difficult to stop him. It's good to remember that Corinthians doesn't just have Ronaldo. They have Dentinho, Iarley, Bruno César, and other quality players," he said.

The player also took the opportunity to explain the unusual goal Vasco scored against Flamengo in the derby. According to him, that play didn't distract him during the game and will certainly not diminish his motivation to remain a starter for Flamengo.

""It was bad luck. We were unlucky in that play. These things happen in football. Everyone encouraged me after the incident, and I've already moved on. I'm focused on improving," he added.

Flamengo and Corinthians play at 22 PM this Wednesday. Corinthians is in third place. Flamengo is in 13th place with 53 points, with 38.
