After the 1-0 loss to Ponte Preta in Campinas, midfielder Willian Arão lamented the result, which hampered the club's championship hopes. With the setback, the Rubro Negro remains in seventh place in the standings with 39 points. The next match will be the derby against Fluminense in the Brasileirão on October 12th at Maracanã, at 10 pm.
Still leaving the field, Arão said that defeat was not in the plans, but only with work could the team reverse the situation.
"The gap (to the leaders) is very worrying. The defeat disrupts our work and what we were planning. We were counting on the win to stay in fifth place and get closer to fourth. In the first half, we had the game under control. In the second, we had chances, but we conceded a goal and it was difficult. Their team closed up too much. Now it's time to work and try to change this situation," commented the number 05, who finished the match with 42 successful passes, two missed, shot twice and dispossessed three times.
