The red-black midfielder turned 23 yesterday, in Flamengo's 2-1 victory over Bangu.
By Flamengo Archive - inOne of Flamengo's new signings for the 2009 season, midfielder Willians, formerly of Santo André, turned 23 yesterday with a strong performance in the 2-1 victory over Bangu. The player admits that the red-and-black team's second consecutive triumph in the Campeonato Carioca had a special flavor.
"It was one of the best birthdays of my life. I was so happy. I got a gift I didn't expect: the fans chanting my name. Even better was getting my second win in the Campeonato Carioca. After the game, everyone even made me a cake. It was really nice. I was very well received by all the players. They treat me very well and instilled a lot of confidence in me. I can already say that I feel at home at Flamengo."
For the player, the good preseason he had helped a lot in gaining the trust of coach Cuca.
"Since I arrived here, I've said my goal was to be a starter. I dedicated myself a lot during the preseason and earned this spot on the team. Even so, I can't rest on my laurels, and I have to work harder. I'm slowly getting into the swing of things, and I believe I already played a better game yesterday."
