Neither Empire of Love nor Dodô, it's Power, the star of this Sunday's (19.03) classic of millions, at Maracanã, was goalkeeper Bruno. The red-and-black goalkeeper saved two penalties and left the field to a standing ovation from the fans as "the best goalkeeper in Brazil." The number 1 shirt did not give an interview after the game, but his teammates and coach Andrade spoke for him.

Especially defensive midfielder Willians. The midfielder conceded a penalty on Philippe Coutinho in the first half. Upset, he simply prayed that Dodô wouldn't put the ball in the net. It worked.

"I was very relieved when Bruno made the save. If that ball had gone in, I would have been very upset," he explained.

Alvaro, who scored the second penalty for Vasco, also thanked the goalkeeper for preventing defeat.

"We call Bruno the Elastic Man. He's very agile and is currently one of the best goalkeepers in the country. He made a difference again and is always helping us with his saves. I conceded the second penalty and didn't want it to cause a setback for the team," said Álvaro.

Coach Andrade even lobbied for the red-black goalkeeper in the Brazilian National Team.

"Bruno is among the three best goalkeepers in Brazil. He deserves a spot in the national team, yes, for all the work he's been doing at Flamengo," he analyzed.

This isn't the first time Bruno has been crowned the star of a match by saving two penalties. Against Santos in last year's Brasileirão, he also saved two penalties.
