Willians remains on the bench and Fierro should take over at right-back
Returning from injury, the No. 8 won't start. The Chilean replaces Leo Moura.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inDuring Friday's training session at Ninho do Urubu, coach Andrade had an idea of the team he will field for Sunday's derby against Fluminense at Maracanã. The Flamengo coach was counting on Willians' return to training with the rest of the squad, but he didn't name him among the starters. The midfielder, recovering from an ankle injury, is expected to be on the bench for the Flamengo vs. Fluminense match. At right-back, with Leonardo Moura suspended, Chilean Fierro is expected to play.
\Willians' return will be cautious, according to coach Andrade. The Flamengo manager still doesn't see the player at the same level as his teammates, despite him being one of the standout performers for the reserve team (which lost 3-2) in the training session. Andrade doesn't rule out using him in the game, but he'll start on the bench.
\"I intend to use him during the match. But since he was out for so long, he's not yet at the same physical level as the others," said the coach.
\In midfield, tactical changes must also be made. The coach spoke with the experienced Kleberson, who revealed he was feeling overwhelmed by having to help so much in the marking.
\"He thinks he's wearing himself out because he has to mark the opposing team's full-back and midfielder. That was the role that Williams played on the right last year. I like to hear that," he explained.
\Fluminense is considered by many to be the favorite for next Sunday's match. However, the Flamengo coach disagrees. For Andrade, if Fluminense is motivated, Flamengo is too. After all, they haven't lost a single game in the competition and are seeking their fourth consecutive championship.
\"But if there's joy there, there's joy here too. We've won every game and we're motivated for this classic too," he concluded.
