Last week, Flamengo released an official statement explaining that midfielder Willians will not be released to talk to any club until the end of the year. But if it's up to the number 8, he will remain at Gávea until at least the end of his contract. Despite the speculation, the defensive midfielder doesn't see himself leaving the club.
Fully identified and after having two good seasons wearing the Sacred Mantle, Willians, who has a contract with the club until 2012, says he is very happy at the club and reveals that he is not thinking about leaving Flamengo at this time.
"I only think about Flamengo. I have a contract until 2012 and I want to stay at the club. The most important thing is to stay here because I'm happy at Flamengo. No one has talked to me, I'm focused on work and I'm not thinking about leaving," he said.
A player with a strong midfield presence, he knows he'll have even more work to do with Vanderlei Luxemburgo's new three-forward system, but he's confident in the new formation's success.
"I think that with three attackers, the team is closer to victory. We have better ball possession, speed up front, and who knows, this could help us win the match," he concluded.
