Flamengo still has just under a month to go before returning to the Brazilian Championship. Until then, the players will spend an offseason in Rio and Itu, in the interior of São Paulo. And one athlete in particular hopes to take advantage of this time to return to top form with the red-and-black team on July 14th, when Flamengo faces Botafogo.
Willians, who suffered a fracture in his right hand before the Brasileirão break and has not played since May 23, when Flamengo beat Grêmio Prudente at Maracanã, promises to dedicate himself to the maximum to return to 100%.
"My goal is to get back in shape. I was out for almost a month. I want to arrive on the 14th and play a good game to help the team come back with a win. We have to look forward and continue working," said midfielder Willians, who suffered from injuries in 2010.
In his first game of the year, he injured his ankle and was out for almost a month. Then came a thigh injury, and now, at the end of the semester, a hand injury. He hopes this won't happen again in the coming months.
"It was a year of a lot of injuries for me and that's annoying. I'm going to work, because I had other injuries and I hope that doesn't happen again," said the player, who believes the squad is capable of fighting to return to the top four.
"I believe that by the 14th, the house will be in order. I don't know if Flamengo will hire, but I believe we can do a good job with the ones who are here. We have to work hard. Some youngsters have come up from the youth academy who are also talented, and we'll work hard so that when the time comes we can do a good job," he concluded.
