Forward Wanderley is experiencing his first moments as a Flamengo player and already knows what he needs to do to win over the fans, his teammates, and the coaching staff: play with determination and score goals. At 22 years old, he arrives at Flamengo with a long-term, three-year contract, with the mission of finding the back of the net and helping the team from Gávea starting next Sunday (January 09.01th), should the coaching staff so desire.

Coming off a good season with Grêmio Prudente, the striker turned professional at 17 with Ponte Preta, and also played for Cruzeiro, São Caetano, and Santo André. With the backing of Vanderlei Luxemburgo, he explains that he will do everything to make the most of this golden opportunity in his career.

"It was a somewhat lengthy negotiation. Vanderlei had been talking to my agent and they resolved everything in the best way. I feel at home, in a big, popular club, and I hope to do well here. I'm arriving quietly to show my worth, taking advantage of the pre-season to deliver in the future," said the player, who also spoke a little about his characteristics.

"It's complicated to talk about myself. But I'm a player who has the disposition, I'm a natural striker and I have the ambition to score goals. I intend to do everything that coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo asks of me to do well. For me, it's important to be with one of the best coaches in Brazil. I'm sure I'll improve a lot and score many goals," he observed.

On his first day of work, the center forward worked out in the gym, ran laps around the pitch, and gave his first press conference as a Flamengo player.

He's very successful, one of the best coaches in Brazil. I'm Wanderley Junior, my father is Wanderley, so there's going to be a lot of Wanderleys here," said the striker, who hopes to fight for a starting spot during the season.

"The goal is to earn a spot. There are quality players here, I'm arriving now, taking it easy, but I want to show my football, earn my place and the trust of everyone to help Flamengo," he concluded.
