The day of his debut has arrived. Signed to be Flamengo's number 10 for the 2009 season, attacking midfielder Zé Roberto was confirmed by coach Cuca as the team's starter for tomorrow's match against Mesquita at the Maracanã stadium. The new Flamengo maestro said his debut for his beloved club will have a special flavor.

"It's time for my debut. I'm very excited, but also very confident. It will be a special match for me, as it will be my first time wearing a Flamengo jersey. I've always been a Flamengo fan, and it will be great to play at Maracanã with the support of the Flamengo fans. I know the fans expect a lot from me, and I'm prepared to meet their expectations."

Zé Roberto said he is in good condition and expects another Flamengo victory in the Campeonato Carioca.

"I'm fit to play. I can't be anxious. I've been training hard physically these past few days and I'm fine. I'm lacking a good rhythm of play. So I have to move around a lot and help out with the marking. I have to look for spaces, because the marking is strong. I have to do what I'm used to doing. I won't lack the drive and desire to help Flamengo win another victory, which is the most important thing. Who knows, maybe I'll score a goal in the debut. That would be perfect."
