The "Zico Era" at the helm of Flamengo football began with a victory. And in a classic match, with grit and true to form, the team from Gávea defeated Botafogo 1-0 at Maracanã, under the watchful eye of the club's executive director of football and president Patricia Amorim. After the game, both went to the locker room, spoke with the players, and conveyed a message of support to the group.

Accustomed to deciding classics with the ball rolling, Zico explained that it is much more complicated to just support the team, but he expressed happiness with the result and asked the fans to continue supporting the team and believing in the work of the board.

"It's always worse to cheer than to play (laughs). But I was pleased with the victory. The result was very important for us and for the fans, who must continue to believe in the work that has been done," he said.

Coach Rogério Lourenço spoke about Zico and president Patricia Amorim's presence in the locker room after the game. According to him, both the director and the president congratulated the players on their dedication and the victory.

"They congratulated the players and gave them all the credit. When the ball rolls, they're the ones who decide. They hear that all the time. The players have been struggling a lot these past few days, and this victory was a relief for everyone. We could see the happiness of the victory on Zico's, Patrícia's, and the players' faces," he added.

This Thursday (July 15), the red-black squad will return at 15.07 pm in Gávea. The starting players against Botafogo must do regenerative work.
