Zico was unable to attend the event due to pre-season commitments with FC Goa, where he is the coach. However, Suzuki San, a friend and interpreter, and Takashima San, the youth coordinator of Kashima Antlers, represented the "Little Rooster" (Zico's nickname). The ceremony was attended by Princess Isako Takamado and the institution's president, Tajima San.

Arthur Antunes Coimbra is seen as an idol in Japan for having helped consolidate professional football in the country. Besides playing for Kashima Antlers between 1991 and 1994 (88 games and 54 goals), the "Little Rooster" managed the Japanese national team between 2002 and 2006, winning the team's biggest title to date: the 2004 Asian Cup, defeating the host country, China, 3-1 in the final.
