Nothing better than two passionate Flamengo fans to recognize the importance of Flamengo's greatest idol of all time. Adriano and Leonardo Moura, scorers of the goals in the Gávea team's 2-0 victory over Universidad Católica this Wednesday at Maracanã, paid tribute to Arthur Antunes Coimbra, known as Zico, who watched the match from one of the stadium's boxes. "Zico de Quintino" returned the compliments and expressed confidence in their second Copa Libertadores title.

Gávea's new number 10 hopes to be, at least a little, important in the current team as the eternal idol was in the 80s generation, and also lead the team in the conquest of America.

"I scored the goal, and it's worth paying tribute to Zico, my idol. I'm very happy with his presence, there's a lot of affection between us and I hope to do at least half, or a little, of what he did for Flamengo, to lift up these wonderful people," celebrated the Emperor.

A free kick from the edge of the box is no longer the responsibility of the Galinho, but Leonardo Moura's shot for Flamengo's first goal brought back memories of the good old days of Zico. A stunning goal. The number two himself, a fan and friend of the former player, joked and compared his shot to those of his idol.

"He brings good vibes, and I hope it continues that way. I hope he'll be here at Maracanã whenever he can to support us. He's a great personal friend, a great idol, and always brings good vibes. And from there, who knows, maybe with a free kick, he might even remind us a little of Zico's goals," he said.

Pleased with the team's performance, Zico believes Flamengo is indeed one of the favorites to win the Libertadores. "Galinho" uses the 2009 Brazilian title as his main argument, but emphasizes that quality alone isn't enough to win the competition.

"Of course, the Libertadores isn't just won on the field; there are a number of factors involved. But the team is strong, and it's obviously in the running. If Flamengo weren't strong, they wouldn't be Brazilian champions," he observed.

Flamengo leads Group 8 with three points and a goal difference of two. Their next match will be on March 10th against Caracas in Venezuela. A week later, the team visits Universidad de Chile in Santiago. This Saturday, Flamengo begins their journey in the Taça Rio, the second round of the State Championship, against Macaé in Volta Redonda at 19:30 pm.
