It's often said that the voice of the people is the voice of God. At Flamengo, this adage also seems to be true. Zico, the club's greatest idol and the club's executive director this year, gave a press conference after training on Friday (August 27.08) to explain the change in the team's coaching staff.

Galinho explained that the fans' demonstration at Maracanã after the 0-0 draw with Atlético Mineiro was taken into account when making the decision.

"Flamengo's greatest asset is its fans, and when they demonstrate the way they did yesterday, it's time to reflect. I talked extensively with Rogério, as I always do, and we ended up opting for this. He's a young coach, he understands, and we'll try to announce a new coach by the end of the week," he said.

Zico also revealed that there is no name defined to take over the position permanently and explained that Toninho Barroso will lead the team in training this Saturday (28.08) and in the match on Sunday (29.08).

"The team will be trained tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday, against Guarani, by Toninho Barroso on an interim basis. I won't mention names or profiles in advance. I will always think about what is best for Flamengo. With the pressure from the fans, I could see that from now on it would be complicated," he added.
