During every transfer window, sports news is filled with speculation about players who might switch clubs. But if it's up to Flamengo's executive director of football, Zico, no news related to the reinforcements the Red-Blacks could bring in for the second half of the year will leak to the press.
In a quick press conference given at the presentation of the club's new vice-president of football, Vinícius França, Galinho showed good humor, giving the example of striker Deivid, whose name is always linked to Zico's due to the great relationship the two had at Fenerbahçe, in Türkiye.
"Whenever I go to a team, people say I'm going to bring players from other clubs. At Flamengo, it's the same thing. You only have to see a player who worked with me and is currently on the sidelines at any club to think I'm going to bring him. David, for example, at any club I go to, they say he's going to be signed (laughs)," he said.
Zico took the opportunity to reveal that negotiations are underway, but explained that he will only announce names if the potential reinforcements actually sign a contract with Flamengo.
"We'll always be monitoring the market, and if possible, we'll try. We have a few things we're waiting for, especially because there's no need to rush. I'm waiting for some responses that might be good, but we always have to keep our feet on the ground," he added.
