The artistic gymnastics year ended at a high level, on Saturday afternoon (19), at the Cláudio Coutinho gymnasium, in Gávea. Athletes from all categories performed on the apparatus and performed choreographies under the supervision of the coaches (Angelo, Dani Antunes, Nei, Renata, Roberto and Walmyr) and the technical coordinator, Georgette Vidor.

"It was a very painful year, but we had to hold an event to close it out. We worked incredibly hard throughout 2020 to keep these athletes engaged in gymnastics and to endure virtual training. We held an internal competition on the 5th, but it lacked something emotional. Christmas represents unity and overcoming challenges. This celebration proves that there's positive energy in the world for good things to happen. I love this sport, and I returned to Flamengo precisely to show that we're a powerhouse. Not just anyone can do that," said Georgette.

This was the second consecutive event in the sport. Former gymnast Lorenna Antunes, recently retired and now on the coaching staff, participated in her new role. Another interesting point was that Jade Barbosa developed the final choreography for the adult team, which this season featured the return of Dany Hypolito.

"It was a difficult year, but being able to return to our environment and reunite with the people we love was great. We ended it with joy. It was a time to celebrate, but at the same time, we can't forget to take care of ourselves. We have to be mindful, because the pandemic isn't over. So, we need to be doubly careful," Dany emphasized.

In an interview with Mais Querido's official website, manager Roberta Perillier stated that the idea is to further develop the sport next year.

"Despite everything, gymnastics has grown significantly with the arrival of Georgette, who completely revamped the technical side. We have a bold plan for 2021, aiming for new achievements," he concluded.

The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
