Eight Flamengo artistic gymnastics athletes will participate in the national selection process this Thursday and Friday (8 and 9). Evaluations are carried out periodically by the Brazilian team's technical committee to determine who will represent Brazil in international competitions. 

Beatriz Simão, Flavia Saraiva, Isabelle Retamiro, Jade Barbosa, Lorenna Antunes, Luisa Kirchmayer, Maria Julia Marques and Milleny Esteves are the representatives of Mais Querido in the selection, which takes place at the Time Brasil Training Center, in Rio de Janeiro. 

The evaluation is conducted in a tournament format. This Thursday, the athletes compete on vault and uneven bars, and on Friday, they compete on balance beam and floor exercise. A gymnast for Mais Querido since early 2017, Luisa Kirchmayer believes that being among teammates is a differentiator. 

"I think it's great that we're together and able to evaluate each other because we each already know each other's flaws, so we know when to support each other, where each of us needs it," Luisa said, adding, "I'm optimistic. We train a lot, and I want to give my best, do it the way I do in training. As a result, everything that comes is a benefit." 

Flamengo's artistic gymnastics team, as part of the 2020/2024 Inspiration Project – Idols Create Homegrown Stars, recently renewed the contracts of Flávia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa, Lorrane Oliveira, and Rebecca Andrade. The athletes will continue to represent Flamengo for another season.
