This Tuesday morning (9) was a time of re-evaluation for the girls of the red-black artistic gymnastics team. Back to training after a vacation period, eight gymnasts from the adult team were evaluated by CUIDAR professionals, in addition to being closely monitored by coaches Ângelo Sabino and Renata Valente.
According to the red-black technical and scientific coordinator, Luiz Antônio Moreira, the work follows the philosophy implemented by Mais Querido to always seek the best possible performance from all athletes.
"This pre-season assessment is part of the menu of services that CUIDAR offers to Flamengo athletes of all categories and sports. This process is of fundamental importance, as it allows us to understand the current physical performance and health of the athletes, as well as aspects that help us characterize them, such as fat percentage, body mass, wingspan, and height," said Luiz.
"This is the first edition to also include physical therapy testing. This is the result of a partnership between the club and the National Society of Sports Physiotherapy (Sonafe). We hope that the information gathered from these tests will also help us increase the quantity and quality of information we share with both athletes and coaches. Our goal is to support them in making decisions regarding the entire preventive training schedule throughout the season," the coordinator added.
Flamengo is already preparing for the challenges of the 2018 season. The athletes called up to the National Team will head to a training camp at the Brazilian Team Training Center starting on January 15th.
The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
