The newly formed Brazilian artistic gymnastics team won this weekend, during the International Team Tournament in Venice (Italy), the first silver and bronze medals of 2009 for the sport.
Leadered by Daniele Hypolito, the most experienced of the group, the women's senior team secured the silver medal with 159,000 points, trailing only the host team, Italy, which totaled 161,950 points. The bronze went to the Great Britain team, with 156,350 points.
The youth team, which has the sport's biggest revelation, Leticia da Costa, won the bronze medal with 154,900 points. The gold and silver medals went to the Italian and Great British teams, with 163,650 and 161,100 points, respectively.
The Brazilian adult team was formed by gymnasts Daniele Hypolito, Bruna Leal, Ethiene Franco, Priscila Cobello, Ana Claudia Silva and Khiuane Dias. Leticia Costa, Janaina Silva, Anna Caroline Cardoso and Nadhine Ourives were part of the youth team.
