Brazil secures Olympic spot with four red-and-blacks
Flávia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa, Rebeca Andrade and Milena Theodoro also took first place on the team podium

The score would have earned the team fourth place at last year's World Championships, which would have qualified them directly. But their spot was confirmed in Brazil, at the official Olympics gymnasium, with the full team and fans.
Sunday (17) was a memorable day and marked a happy ending - or beginning - for Brazilian artistic gymnastics. For the first time in history, Brazil will be going to the Olympic Games with two complete teams. With the men's team already guaranteed a place at Rio 2016, thanks to their performance at the 2015 World Championships in Scotland, the women's team had their last chance to qualify at the test event at the Rio Olympic Arena, which would qualify the top four athletes for Rio 2016. With four red-and-black athletes, Flávia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa and Rebeca Andrade, plus reserve Milena Theodoro, Brazil secured the Olympic spot, was the grand champion in the team competition and also has athletes in the finals of six apparatuses. Rebeca, Jade and Flávia represent the red-and-black team in the National Team this Monday.
Extremely happy after securing their spot, Flávia emphasized how much the team prepared for this moment. "We trained hard to earn this spot, and I'm happy with my performances. I liked my vault, which I'm performing for the second time in a competition. On the floor, my music is new, and I'm happy with the choreography, which is beautiful," she said.

The events began on the balance beam. Jade Barbosa scored 14,233 and Flávia Saraiva secured 14,566. On the floor, Jade scored 13,891. Flávia had the highest score in the country, right at the start of her new series. The gymnast delivered a graceful performance, drawing applause from the crowd, and a score of 14,150. Flavinha's floor routine is expected to become even more challenging for the Olympic Games. On the vault, Flávia (14,533), Jade (14,966), and Rebeca (14,933) all delivered excellent performances. The uneven bars rounded out the event, featuring the three red-and-blacks—Jade (12,733), Flávia (13,633), and Rebeca (14,400).
Brazil secured qualification at home after a great performance by Rebeca. The Brazilians scored 226,477 in total, ahead of Germany (223,977), Belgium (221,438), and France (220,869), who also qualified. The young gymnast, just 16 years old, spoke of the emotion of the moment.
"I feel really good because I joined the team to help with just two apparatus (vault and floor) and I did my best. We all did our best today and it was amazing to have the support of the fans in the stands, who knew how to compete alongside us," he said.
Jade also has high expectations for the Olympic Games. According to the gymnast, this is the best moment in Brazilian women's artistic gymnastics' history. "We all fought until the end, and everything went really well. Now that we've qualified, we can train specifically for our specialties with the Olympic Games in mind. This is the cycle where we have the best chance at the Olympic Games. The team is very talented, and everyone is focused. It's all worth it," she celebrated.
The gymnasts return to the Rio Olympic Arena this Monday (18) for the apparatus finals, starting at 13:10 pm. In the uneven, Rebeca is classified. Jade is in the balance beam final, as is Flávia, who will also compete on the floor.
