Club prepares for the return of the top team
In the final stages of renovation, the Cláudio Coutinho gymnasium is expected to return to gymnasts' routines in September this year.

Last Saturday (June 15.06), an event at the Gávea headquarters marked the return of Flamengo's top artistic gymnasts to the Cláudio Coutinho gymnasium, which is close to its official reopening, undergoing final renovations following the fire that destroyed the facility. At the event, Flamengo athletes Rebeca Andrade, Milena Theodoro, Thauany Araujo, Letícia Costa, Isabelle Cruz, Maria Cecília, and Julie Kim, the base of the Brazilian national team, were welcomed by president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello and the VP and Director of Olympic Sports, Alexandre Póvoa and Marcelo Vido. The girls were honored for their historic achievement at the 2014 Brazil Trophy: they occupied four of the top five places in the overall ranking.
Luisa Parente, the club's gymnastics manager, celebrated the gymnasts' return and stated that daily training at the club is close to becoming a reality. "We have a very close goal, for the second half of this year. All that's missing is the arrival of a set of equipment that the Brazilian Olympic Committee will provide us and a partnership with a company we already work with to complete the pit, essential for high-performance gymnastics. These are the points we're looking forward to, starting in September, having them here with us in our daily routines," said Luisa.
The manager also points out that the athletes are the foundation of the Brazilian team and will therefore have commitments with the delegation. "The girls will still be called up, which is a source of great pride for us, so we will combine the Brazilian national team's training with training at Flamengo's headquarters," she concluded.
